Wow, the fireworks where great this year. Downtown is really starting to pop. The Tennessee Theater is showing some terrific old movies. Check out their web site www.tennesseetheatre.com for the lineup and times.

Tennessee lost a close game on the West Coast Monday, however the home opener is just a few days away. We need to get out and support the team. The Cook Loft is a great "bed and breakfast" in downtown Knoxville Tennessee to plan your football weekend. Go to our web site and check out the dates we still have open. Go VOLS.

There are big doings at the Bijou.
Big Ears Festival This Weekend !
www.bigearsfestival.com

Complete Big Ears schedule now available on the Big Ears website!

February 6-8, 2009
The inaugural Big Ears Festival launches this weekend.

While most of the festival’s major concert events center around the beautiful and acoustically exquisite Bijou Theatre, there are great shows at the Knoxville Museum of Art, the Square Room on Market Square, the Pilot Light and Catalyst in the Old City, with a special festival headquarters and interactive learning annex set up on the fifth floor of the Woodruff building on Gay Street.
Plus, the Tennessee Theatre is hosting free screenings of two films scored by Philip Glass.

So many unique and rare performances comprise Big Ears that we hesitate to single anything out, but these shows are among the major highlights that will be at the Bijou this weekend:

Fennesz: Friday, February 6, 2009 at 8pm

Jon Hassell + Maarifa Street: Friday, February 6, 2009 at 10:30pm

Philip Glass: Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 3pm

Antony & The Johnsons: Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 8pm

The Necks: Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11pm

Negativland: Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 2:30pm

Festival Finale: Michael Gira (solo) & Fennesz/Linkous/Minor and Larkin Grimm: Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 7pm

The Big Ears Festival has teamed up with the Knoxville Museum of Art for the kick off event of this truly dynamic festival experience. Matmos, Sxip Shirey’s Sonic New York and the Luminescent Orchestrii launch the festival at KMA’s musical showcase Alive After Five on Friday, February 6, at 5 pm.
Tickets for the kick off event can be purchased for $10 at the door, or you can purchase a festival pass that gets you into all of the weekend’s festivities by clicking here.

Be sure to go to www.bigearsfestival.com for a full schedule of activities and concerts. See you at Big Ears this weekend.

As co-owners, Seth & Deron bring over 50 years of culinary expertise to your table every night. Echo specializes in "culinary reflections" - meaning you get the dishes you love from days gone by but with a modern twist.
